TEAM are working alongside our major Oil and Gas client in sourcing an OFFSHORE CHEMIST for a 28/28 rotational position based in Dubai, UAE.

FULL DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a range o laboratory services aimed at ensuring process and product quality in the assigned production field. They will also be responsible for maintaining Laboratory equipment calibration in accordance to International Standards. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor the performance of oil process plants through sampling and conducting a range of laboratory tests to ensure that sale crude quality and Over Board Water Quality (OBWQ) are within the Clients specifications. 
• Support troubleshooting activity through his expertise and appraise the offshore team and the line manager with findings, ideas, and suggestions;
• Carries out the sampling and analysis of crude oil in storage tanks by Centrifuge and Karl Fischer methods and as per ASTM. 
• Collect and analyse produced water samples from the water treatment units to ensure that Overboard Water Quality (OBWQ) within the Clients specifications.
• Collect pipeline oil samples, analyse emulsion content, and track chemical treatment evolution trend.
• Provide support to the offshore and onshore team as when it is requested. 
• Liaise with the offshore production chemist to maintain the laboratory consumables and reagents required to  conduct the laboratory tests. 
• Carry out the required calibration of laboratory testing equipment and maintain all laboratory equipment at optimum operational levels.
• Ensures that all activities in the laboratory are carried out in accordance with the Client's safety policies and procedures.  Ensures all safety rules and regulations are fully explained to Company employees including the safe handling and use of chemicals and disposal; that appropriate safety and protective equipment is ordered and stocked in the work unit; that safety notices are prominently displayed in all work areas.
• Control stocking and reordering of all laboratory supplies and chemicals, ensuring the correct safety and handling of chemicals.
• Carry out QA / QC of process chemicals and liaise with Chemical Management as and when required.

EXPERIENCE

• 4 years' experience in oil or gas processing industry, including basic crude and water analysis techniques. 
• Good knowledge of oilfield production chemicals applications.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry from an internationally recognised university.
• Valid BOSIET.
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness for Offshore Work.

Purpose

Provide technical knowledge, expertise and authority on all process engineering matters and work to broaden the company’s expertise in this area to include specifically the area of gas and oil treatment techniques and processing. To implement and supervise all process engineering activities throughout a project life cycle, from concept to commissioning and start-up and performance testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides process engineering support to various projects as directed.
• Preparation of conceptual designs for modification or new process facilities
• Preparation of process engineering design philosophies, process simulations (including dynamic), calculations, Heat and Material Balances, and Process Flow Diagrams, Equipment sizing/datasheets, control narratives.
• Provides technical input to enable budget costs to be estimated
• Ensures application of correct codes and standards in the design and development projects
• Prepares specifications, reviews bids, recommends selections of technologies and equipment
• Provides process design and engineering evaluations, plant troubleshooting activities and operations support
• Coordinate and review deliverables from Contractors, other disciplines, and suppliers during the execution of the project to ensure that process intent has been adequately incorporated into the facility design
• Collects data from technical/operating staff to recommend solutions ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.
• Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Process engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants / contractors, ensuring design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
• Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.
• Participates in the preparation of Safety Studies, HAZOP’s, SILs and Risk assessment reports
• Investigates new technology areas and potential technology partners to further develop the  company’s scope of work.
• Mentors and develops company’s Process Engineers

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Bsc or HND in Engineering
• 20 years’ experience of Process Design and Engineering within the Oil and Gas sector
• Member of professional institution (e.g., IChemE) preferred
• Specific knowledge and expertise in Gas Treatment Techniques and Processes including Amine Gas Treatment.
• Expert level in Process Simulation Packages such as HYSYS, Flaresim, Promax.
• Thoroughly conversant with international codes, methodologies and standards applicable to process engineering

I currently have a role for Senior Process Engineer- Steam Cracker for a PMC in Munich.
This would be working Mon-Fri and you would be working on the FEED stage of an expansion project. This would be on a residential basis on a renewable contract.

Please note, the rate is subject to German tax and social security. The mobilisation flight will be covered by the client.

You are also responsible for your own accommodation as this is not covered by the client.

You must have Steam Cracker experience.
